Thylejren is a settlement in northwest Denmark between Frøstrup and Østerild. It started in the summer of 1970 as an encampment and festival. Nowadays is a settlement with around a hundred permanent inhabitants who build themselves their houses and who uphold the hippie ideal after 47 years. It is an alternative society in the midst of Danish society where the people use direct democracy and decide about their community through frequent assemblies. The name is chosen for the trio as it symbolizes the open character of the group as well as the very first gig of the trio which took place in the bar of Thylejren. “Thylejren” comes on stage without any concept.
Tassos Tataroglou microtone-duplex trumpet/fx, Sylvain Haenen el. guitar/fx, Samuel Weber alias Igor Stepniewski contrabass/fx/flutes.

More Info:
INCOUNTERPOINT VOL. 1:
A dialectic experimental project which started in the beginning of 2016 as an audio-visual free improvisation duo. The focus is to experiment on the counterpoint between hearing and vision while different elements of image change the perception of sound and vice versa.
QUOSTET:
For six years already, the QUOSTET shares it’s decadent sound with powerfull grooves and rythms, made from unusual sonorous constructions and crazy melodic lines. To present their last opus “Granit”, the iconoclastic group will shake the stage with pulse, beats and slices of sound.. to taste in concert!

Two silent movies of the middlewar era from both sides of the Atlantic ocean, “The Immigrant” by Charlie Chaplin (1917) and “Chess fever” by Vsevolod Pudovkin and Nikolai Shpikovsky (1925) meet each other and they are connected through a freely improvised live soundtrack from Trio Aman. The historic movie of Charlie Chaplin is a significant movie by the legendary Chaplin, showing the story of an immigrant who leaves Europe in order to arrive to the USA. Adventure, hope, poverty and love are unfolding on the ship but they are not over by arriving to the promised land. On the other hand, at the same year the October’s revolution takes place in Russia and by 1925 the country is experiencing a sociopolitical orgasm which affects, of course, the arts as well. The movie of Pudovkin and Shpikovsky is a surrealistic creation where chess is the main subject. Why chess? This wonderful game with routes far back to the history becomes one of the most important means for the cultural development of Soviet Union. It was only some years before the revolution when in the western capitalistic world was said that “the people of this country are so much uneducated that it would never be possible to subvert the tsar”. Despite the predictions, the people subverted the tsar and played a leading role in the development of chess by producing great grandmasters and world champions.
Saturday 7th January Konzert | Echanges @ Tinguely Museum, Basel
Students of the percussion and free improvisation classes of the School of Music
(Hochschule für Musik) FHNW / Musik-Akademie Basel approach the machine sounds of the Méta-Harmonies in their own individual manner: by newly orchestrating Rolf Liebermann’s symphony Les Echanges (EXPO 1964), yet a different kind of machine music. Or by allowing sounds – generally perceived as “waste” – to bloom on their respective instrument, thus entering in a respectful and subtle dialogue with Jean Tinguely.
Class of Matthias Würsch: percussion
Class of Alfred Zimmerlin: free improvisation
Cost: Museum admission
Starts at 19:00
